5 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT NORTHWEST OHIO

Unless you were raised in Northwest Ohio, you don't always see the beauty. There are hidden wonders that everyone should experience.
1. Ballreich's Potato Chips
I put this as number one, because they are the best potato chip you will ever eat. The chips come in over 10 flavors and have an irresistible crunch. Made only in Tiffin, Ohio this is one treasure to find.
2. Cedar Point
Yes, Cedar Point is very well know, but when raised in NW Ohio only you can truly brag about being a ride-warrior. Located in Sandusky, OH, Cedar Point is never more than 30 minutes away.
3. COLLEGE
Believe it or not college is on the list. Northwest Ohio alone has at least 26 colleges/ Universities. I happen to go to the number 2 university in Ohio, Ohio Northern University. Having so many great opportunities so close to home is wonderful.
4. Unsweet Tea
It is so hard to find freshly brewed unsweet tea ANYWHERE, but NW Ohio serves it almost everywhere. It is a common misconception that most Northern states have unsweet tea. I travel to and from Pennsylvania a lot and it is so hard to find a single serving of unsweet tea. Go South a few states and ask for tea and it is automatic you receive sweet tea.
5. Autumn
Not only is fall my favorite season, but fall in NW Ohio is beautiful. With the amount of farmland here in Ohio, most farmers will make mazes. Not only are the mazes fun, but they are usually by a farmers market.
Ohioans and guest will always love to complain about our flat land and awful weather but this is the place I call home.

  1. Hi Bri,

I agree that there are some great things happening in Northwest Ohio. We have our moments when we hate living here, but we definitely have our perks. Personally, I love Cedar Point and in previous years I have owned a pass. It is a great way to relax and have fun with friends and family. In addition, we have a variety of colleges in this area, which is wonderful. There are many options no matter what major you plan to study. I would never change my decision to attend Ohio Northern and study pharmacy. Also, fall is one of my favorite seasons because you can enjoy the weather before it turns cold and snowy. I love having the option to pick my own pumpkins and participate in a hay ride. Even though I complain about Ohio sometimes, it has many positives and is truly my home.

  2. Bri - Being from Michigan I would say that I knew about 3 out of the 5 of these. I have never heard of Ballreich's Potato Chips, and I will definitely have to add it to my list of things to try. I also didn't know your fun fact about unsweet tea, as I believe we have unsweet tea in Michigan. I completely agree with your statement about fall, as it's my favorite time of the year. I love picking out of pumpkin and spending time on my grandma's orchards, and don't get to do that much anymore as I am four hours away from home. Thanks for sharing the fun facts! I definitely did learn some new things about NW Ohio.
