Here Comes the Web... do do do do 3.0!

A few short years ago the World Wide Web was not what it is today. Chapter 26 of Share This points that out very well. We didn't YouTube things, subTweet anyone or share an article on Facebook. Oh how the times have changed. Today we use social media for everything. It's how companies advertise, it's how we stay connected with our best friends from high school, it's how our everyday lives' run.
Now that we have been through the first to stages of the web, we are starting to enter into the third. This stage allows for the communication that we expect now-a-days. Web 3.0 and the 'Internet of Things' is a book written to help explain some of the new joys via the web. The 'Things' of this new web have to deal with the small tags attached to everything technologically. So if you check in at the coffee shop or an item you bought arrives at the shipping warehouse you'll know instantly. For PR this is not good. They are no longer doing their job by advertising, so they need to incorporate this into their job titles. It is the challenge of evolving technology that makes the data seemingly hard to analyze. However these skill will ensure a stronger PR practitioner.

  1. Bri- I agree! How crazy is it how much things have changed in such a short time span? If we eliminated social media from our daily lives, we would get so much more done. Social media is an important aspect of society and the business world. As millennials, it is important that we understand how to use social media properly. Don’t get me wrong, social media has endless benefits but it is important that we remember the value of face to face communication.
